26th
And this is why I am better off sleeping past noon!
First I went for breakfast, which was relatively normal, except that the normally very spunky woman who works there was in a sour mood.
Then I waited in the cold for the bus. And waited. And waited. Then I heard an odd noise sounding uncannily like what a velociraptor sounds like… it took me a while to discover it was a crow, and it was watching me from a tree and it kept making that very un-crow like sound. But it eventually flew away.
Next, I waited more, and muttered curses at all the cars that past me. Them and their warmth that I did not have. Flashing past me, mockingly.
After a bit an older man came up to me and announced that it is nice weather, despite the cold. And went on to say that he is getting all his teeth pulled today, and that the funny thing is, is that he had his teeth for exactly 68 years today, seeing that today is his birthday. And talked a while about how he liked his teeth and that they had served him well over the years and how he liked to eat and liked to smile, but the dentist said that his dentures will work even better. He said how he took good care of his teeth, and how he will get the procedure done for free because he is a disabled veteran. Otherwise it would have cost some $4000 to get it done. He paused for a little bit and told me how his long term girlfriend Rose is asleep on his couch. She had been sleeping for a while because she had an operation done the other day (he didn’t say what for) He is going to have to wake her up at 5:00 for a Dr. Appointment though, but until then that she should get lots of rest. Then he talked about his teeth a little bit more. (His name is Bob, btw)
It was at this point that the bus came. I was standing on a snow bank and he was on the street. He asked if I wanted help getting from the bank to the bus I said no but he held out his hand anyway, so I thought it best to let him help me. When we got on the bus he retold his story and I felt slightly less special.
Upon, nearing my school another man came on the bus. He sat right near me and started talking to me about how he got a DWI in Arizona and now has to take his drivers test again. He also has to pay $700 to get his new license and plus an $800 fine. I didn’t like him as much as Bob. I was glad when my bus got to my school, I wished the nameless guy luck, and I said good-bye to Bob and then thought back to how odd it is for two strangers to just randomly start a conversation with me when I am not at work.
I walked through the halls and then I saw a woman who was smiling a lot and spilling her coffee slightly and carrying a tasty looking asparagus dish. I watched some coffee spill from her mug and land near a thong that was alongside the wall.
While I sat typing this 8 students were leaned against a railing, each of them had a digital camera in their hands.
All that happened before noon. I am exhausted.
